At last a new photo post! It’s been a while coming, and my little Hugo had to ride shot-gun in the baby carrier while Manu snapped these pics. That definitely gave me something to smile about, as it was quite the sight at times.

Do you like my new shoes? They are by Chinese Laundry, and I got them from Zalando. Now there’s a site I can get lost on for hours on end. Not that I needed another online store to tempt me into spending more money, but there is so much choice for clothes and shoes, that it’s recently earned itself a place amongst my regular online shopping destinations. Plus free returns (just in case). I highly recommend taking a look if you aren’t familiar with the site (and… well… even if you are).

Anyway, I’m pretty excited about these new shoes. They definitely fill a void in my collection, and the toe detail is pretty cute I think. Heels as high as this might not be the most practical for a new mumma, but I refuse to be condemned to flats and trainers for the foreseeable future.

Eight somewhat surreal and amazing weeks (and a few days) have gone by since my baby came into the world. Nothing is as it was, and yet it feels like my little boy has always been here. Yep… That’s right! It’s a boy! He goes by the name Hugo, and is a tremendous little person. He takes up almost every moment and thought I have, and I am relishing being a mother. I really have to give credit to other bloggers who have managed to pump out the blogs and style posts in the weeks, or even days, after giving birth. I couldn’t even have contemplated it. Hugo is no great fan of the stroller. In fact he screams before he even gets put down in it, making photo shoots next to impossible or just plain stressful. Having said that, I have enjoyed making the most of my first moments with Hugo. I wouldn’t change a moment. Everything happens in it’s own good time, and I will blog again. Actually, stay tuned, I have a new post up my sleeve already.

Il y a huit semaines et quelques jours que mon bébé est arrivé au monde. Rien est comme avant, mais c’est comme si mon petit garçon avait toujours été là. Oui… c’est un garçon!!! Il s’appelle Hugo et c’est est un merveilleux petit bonhomme. Il occupe tout mon temps et toutes mes pensées. J’adore tellement être mère. Je félicite les bloggeuses qui sont arrivées à faire des articles dans les jours et semaines qui ont suivi leur accouchement. Ce n’était pas une possibilité pour moi. Hugo n’aime pas la poussette. Il crie même avant d’y être allongé. Ça rend les séances photo très stressantes, et même quasi impossibles. Mais j’ai tellement profité de mes premiers moments avec lui. Je ne changerais rien. Tout arrive au bon moment, et je vais continuer à faire des articles. En fait, je suis déjà en train d’écrire mon prochain  article.

Once again this post is somewhat delayed in being published. It seems my best intentions these days get lost in the abyss that is baby preparation. Each time I sit down to my computer there is yet another distraction (I can only imagine this will get worse once our baby is born), and I feel it has been years since I last went shopping in any real sense of the word.

Manu and I took these snaps, a few weeks ago during the mini Parisian heatwave. Yes, I am wearing maternity gear… finally! Maybe I should explain this. I think I jumped on the maternity-wear-band-wagon all too soon, and while I’m grateful in these last few days/weeks to have some choice, somethings have only just now been needed or wearable. I’m also grateful that there is such a wide choice in maternity wear. I initially swore I’d never go down the maternity wear road, but the clothes are made for the bump, and some degree of belly comfort. Elasticated bands on jeans are a not necessarily stylish, but are soooo comfortable at this stage.

I never imagined I’d carry this compactly. People are always so surprised when they find out how far along I actually am. These were taken at 37 weeks and 5 days,  and I am now counting down the days (I’m actually 39 weeks and 5 days… and the baby could arrive at any moment). I can’t believe I’m at the end of my first pregnancy. It is somewhat surreal to be this close, and waking up each morning wondering if today could be the day.

Encore une fois je publie cet article avec un peu de retard. Récemment, malgré mes meilleurs efforts, je me perds dans mes préparations pour notre bébé. Quand je m’assieds devant mon ordinateur il y a toujours une distraction ou quelque chose qui necessite mon attention (j’imagine qu’après l’accouchement ce sera pire), et en plus j’ai l’impression que cela fait des années que je n’ai pas fais du “vrai” shopping.

On a pris ces photos avec Manu il y a deux semaines, pendant la récente vague de chaleur à Paris. Oui, je porte des vêtements de maternité… enfin! Je dois peut-être m’expliquer. Je crois que j’ai commencé  à acheter des vêtements de maternité trop tôt. Malgré le fait que j’apprécie vraiment d’avoir un peu de choix durant ces derniers jours/semaines de grossesse, j’arrive seulement maintenant à mettre la plupart de ces vêtements. Au début je me suis dis que je ne porterai jamais de vêtements de maternité, mais finalement il y a pas mal de choix, et en plus ces vêtements sont vraiment faits pour être portés avec un “petit bidon”. Les tailles elastiquées ne sont peut-être pas les plus cool, mais elles sont en revanche hyper confortable à ce stade.

Je n’aurais jamais imaginé avoir un ventre si compact. La plupart des gens sont étonnés quand ils apprennent que je suis si prête de l’accouchement. Sur ces photos, je suis enceinte de 37 semaines et 5 jours, et je compte les jours (je suis actuellement à 39 semaines et 5 jours… le bébé peut arrivé d’un moment à l’autre). C’est un étrange moment dans ma vie. C’est un peu surréel d’être à la fin de ma première grossesse, et je me lève chaque matin en me demandant si aujourd’hui est le jour J.

If your mathematics is reasonable, you should be able to discern a discrepancy between the date of my last blog entry and my pregnancy week. This is simply due to the fact Manu and I took these pictures a week and a half ago, and only now have I managed to sit down and post them. Manu took me away to Normandy for a weekend. It was a chance for us to spend some time just the two of us before our baby comes along. We are so excited about meeting the little person growing in my belly, but at the same time we need to really enjoy the moments we have left before we become three.

We had mixed weather. Lots of rain, and lots of sunshine, but either way we enjoyed our time. Our hotel was in the countryside, so by day we visited the prominent towns of the region, and by night we enjoyed the quiet of the fields. We both particularly enjoyed the town of Honfleur. It was so pretty with it’s small, cobbled streets and old buildings, that we went back on Sunday afternoon before driving back to Paris.

Clothing wise, I dressed for comfort and the changing weather. Walking on cobbled streets (like those of Honfleur) in heels is no fun. And since the very slow growth of my baby bump, my motto has become, “Comfort is Key!”. My go-to item for everyday wear has been these Meltin’ Pot jeans. Not only are they my favourite jeans, but they are low enough in the front to allow for some belly, and they have served me this far. The Bettina Liano studded jacket, has been amazing, as I can zip it to open over my belly. T-shirts have been my major problem area. I already have a long torso, so often tees come up a little short. Now that there is more of me, I’ve found very few of the tees I own actually go the distance. The last outfit here has been a favourite of late. The dress is made of cotton so it breathes, but has been warm enough with the less than summery weather Paris has been experiencing.

Si vous êtes bon en maths, il est possible que vous trouviez une différence entre la date de mon dernier article et ma semaine de grossesse. En fait c’est très simple: Manu a pris ces photos il y a une semaine et demie, et c’est juste maintenant que je trouve le temps de m’asseoir et de les publier. Manu m’a emmené en weekend en Normandie. C’était ma première fois, et ce fut formidable de passer un peu de temps tous les deux avant l’arrivée de notre bébé. On est hyper excité de enfin rencontrer cette petite personne qui grandit dans mon ventre, mais c’est également très important de profiter du temps qu’il nous reste à deux.

En Normandie on a eu une météo mitigée. Beaucoup de pluie, mais aussi beaucoup de soleil. On a quand même passé un très bon weekend. Notre hôtel était situé à la campagne. Nous avons visité les villes aux alentours durant la journée, et la soir nous avons profité du calme autour de l’hôtel. Nous avons particulièrement aimé la ville d’Honfleur. C’est une très belle ville, avec ses rues pavées et ses anciens bâtiments. On a tellement aimé que nous y sommes retournés avant de prendre la route pour Paris.

En ce qui concerne mes vêtements, je me suis habillée avec des tenues confortables et adaptées à la météo changeante. Marcher sur les pavés en talons (comme à Honfleur) ce n’est pas très amusant. Depuis que mon ventre à commencé à pousser, ma devise est “le confort c’est le plus important”. L’élément indispensable de ma garde robe est ce jean Meltin’ Pot. Ce n’est pas seulement mon jean préféré, mais la taille est si basse que mon ventre reste au dessus. Ce jean m’a été très utile jusqu’à maintenant. La veste cloutée de Bettina Liano est très utile car je peux la zipper sous mon ventre. Le plus gros problème pour moi c’est au niveau des T-shirts. J’ai un torse long, donc en général les t-shirts sont un peu courts. Maintenant que mon ventre grossit je trouve très peu de t-shirts qui le couvre. La dernière tenue est ma favorite en ce moment. La robe est en coton, donc elle respire, mais elle est assez chaude pour les basses températures que l’on a à Paris cet été.

Yet another long gap between posts. Time continues to evaporate at alarming rates. Visits from family and friends follow one from another, and life events remind me of the cycle of life. Meanwhile, at close to 31 weeks of pregnancy (little over 6.5 months), I’m learning a lot about myself. I’m loving the feeling of growing a baby inside my body, I’m learning a whole new range of french vocabulary and I’m learning what’s most important to me.

In terms of my day-to-day, my wardrobe is becoming more and more limited. I’m certainly not the same size I was pre-pregnancy, but my bump is minimal (my baby is fine, and the perfect size for dates). My tees, and jeans are all still wearable, and at this stage I’m keen to be comfortable. I followed some advice from other mothers, and invested in maternity jeans. So far my bump isn’t big enough to hold them up, and I’m worrying just how much use I will get out of them.

If comfort has moved higher on my list of priorities, then this outfit fits the bill. Flat shoes, and an oversized dress (picked up for only $2.50 on my recent trip home to Australia). Oversized dresses are working wonders for me at this point. The volumes of fabric hide the parts I’m conscious of and keep me cool, and in the case of this dress, the stripes enhance my belly.

Encore une longue pause entre mes articles. Le temps file à une vitesse incroyable. Les visites de famille et de mes amis s’enchaînent, et des évènements me rappellent le cycle de la vie. En même temps, et à presque 31 semaines de grossesse (un peu plus de 6.5 mois), je suis en train d’apprendre des choses sur moi même. J’adore la sensation de faire grandir un bébé à l’intérieur de mon corps, je suis en train de découvrir du nouveau vocabulaire Français et je me rends compte de tout ce qu’est important pour moi.

Dans ma vie quotidienne, ma garde-robe devient de plus en plus limitée. Je n’ai certainement pas la taille d’avant ma grossesse, mais mon ventre reste petit (mon bébé va bien, et a une taille parfaite). Je peux toujours porter mes t-shirts, et mes jeans, et à ce stade j’ai très envie d’être confortable. J’ai suivis des avis d’autres future mamans et je me suis achetée un jean de maternité. Je ne l’ai toujours pas mis car mon ventre n’est pas assez gros pour le tenir. Je m’inquiète un peu de ne pas avoir beaucoup d’occasions de le mettre.

Si le confort est devenu plus important sur ma liste de priorités, alors cette tenue répond à mes attentes. Des chaussures plates, et une robe un peu large (achetée pour seulement $2.50 en Australie). Les robes larges sont mes préférées en ce moment. Le volume de tissu cache tout ce que je n’aime pas et m’aide à rester à la bonne température, et dans le cas de cette robe les rayures mettent mon ventre en valeur.

Somehow, months seem to have passed since I last updated my blog, and in many ways I don’t know where those months have gone. Somewhere in that time I spent two months at home in Australia. It was a great trip, and very, very busy, and I spent most of it without Manu (and therefore without a photographer). I made the most of seeing my family, and friends, and enjoying the warmer weather. I absolutely adored sharing my birthday with my loved ones while I was there, and I was lucky enough that Manu could join me for that. This Sass & Bide dress was a part of my gift from him, and I just love it! I hope to do it more justice next year, when I get return to my normal size. Which brings me to the other reason I failed to update my blog earlier. I’m expecting my first child, and the news that I was finally pregnant threw me off balance… not only with nausea, and fatigue, but with utter confusion as to how to shop. With no idea about how my body would respond to the pregnancy, and when I would start showing, I was at a total loss. At least now, with only about 14 weeks to go, I know I will only get bigger. (These pictures were taken last week, when I was at 25 weeks of pregnancy or approximately five and a half months).

Il me semble que les mois ont défilé depuis mon dernier article, et pour tout vous dire je ne les ai pas vu passé. Durant cette période j’ai passé deux mois en Australie. Ce fut un voyage magnifique, et très très animé. J’ai passé la plupart de ces deux mois sans Manu (et donc sans photographe). J’en ai profité pour voir toute ma famille et mes amis, et j’ai également bien profité du soleil et des températures plus élevées. J’ai vraiment adoré passé mon anniversaire avec mes proches lors de cette visite, et j’ai eu de la chance que Manu puisse me rejoindre. Cette robe Sass & Bide est un des cadeaux de Manu, et je l’adore! J’espère vraiment pourvoir la mettre en valeur l’année prochaine quand je retournerais à ma taille normale ; ce qui m’amène à vous parler de l’autre raison pour laquelle je n’ai pas mis à jour mon blog ces derniers temps. J’attends mon premier enfant: c’est une nouvelle qui a bouleversé ma vie… pas seulement avec les nausées et la fatigue mais également avec une confusion totale quant à la façon de m’habiller. Sur ce point j’ai vite été un peu perdue: aucune idée de la façon dont laquelle mon corps allait réagir à la grossesse, aucune idée de quand ma grossesse allait commencée à se voir. Maintenant qu’il me reste environ 14 semaines de grossesse, je sais que je ne peux que grossir. (Ces photos ont été prises la semaine dernière, à 25 semaines de grossesse ce qui équivaut à environ 5 mois et demi).

I love Sundays. I especially love Sundays which are sunny. Last Sunday was one of those days. The barometer went up, and so I shed a few layers in celebration. On our way home from taking these, a kind, elderly lady expressed her concern for my lack of clothing, and it was only then that I felt a chill.

These jeans were a gift from Meltin’ Pot (thank-you to Bev and the people at Meltin’ Pot, I love them!!!). They were waiting for me when I got home from the Alps a few weeks ago, and since then they have become my staple pair of jeans. It’s been a long time since I’ve owned a pair this dark, and the shade is perfect. They are also nice and low in the front, but cut higher in the back, and quite simply, they fit like a glove.

J’adore les Dimanches. Et plus encore, j’adore les Dimanches ensoleillés. Dimanche dernier était un jour comme cela. Le baromètre est monté, donc j’ai fêté ça en portant moins de couches de vêtements. Après avoir pris ces photos, nous avons rencontré, sur le chemin du retour, une gentille dame âgée qui m’a fait part de ses préoccupations sur ma tenue légère. C’est à ce moment que j’ai commencé à avoir froid.

Ce jean est un cadeau de Meltin’ Pot (merci à Bev et à tout le monde chez Melt’in Pot, je l’adore!!!). Le jean m’attendait quand on est revenu des Alpes il y a quelque semaines. Depuis il est devenu mon jean préféré. Il y a longtemps que je n’ai pas eu un jean aussi foncé que celui, et le teint est parfait. Il est très bas devant, haut derrière, et tout simplement, il me va comme un gant.

We had an amazing time in the Alps over the holidays, so I was extra sad to leave. I made the most of my time there, snowboarding whenever possible, relaxing, and being with my French family.  I also ransacked my part of the wardrobe and unearthed this vintage, wool Poncho. I’d forgotten I had it, and I am so happy to be reunited. It’s from Scotland and it’s sooo warm. All things good for an Australian girl struggling through the colder months. I also found this skirt. I made it a few years ago. It’s a tad too long, but with the cold, its’ extra length is not unwelcome.

Christmas was fabulous and I was certainly spoiled. These boots were a gift from Manu, and they were such a surprise. They were on my list, but I had pretty much forgotten that I had added them. They are sooo warm and comfortable. It’s love! My Mum sent me one of her creations which is the blue glass ring. The packet got lost in transit, but fortunately it turned up just before I headed back to Paris.

On a passé de très belles vacances dans les Alpes, j’étais très triste de partir. J’en ai profité au maximum là-bas. J’ai fait du snowboard à chaque opportunité, je me suis reposée, et j’ai adoré être avec ma famille française. J’ai également bien remué ma partie de notre garde-robe, et j’ai découvert ce Poncho vintage, en laine. Je l’avais complètement oublié, et je suis très contente que nous soyons réuni. Il vient d’Ecosse et il est super chaud. Parfait pour une fille Australienne durant les mois les plus froids. J’ai même trouvé cette jupe que j’ai fait il y a quelques années. Elle est un peu trop longue, mais avec ce froid je la met avec plaisir.

Noël était excellent et j’ai eu de très beaux cadeaux. Ces bottes étaient un cadeau de Manu. Je les ai mis sûr ma liste, mais j’avais presque oublié qu’elle y étaient. Elles sont bien chaudes et confortables. C’est l’amour! Ma mère m’a envoyé une de ses créations: cette bague en verre bleue. Le paquet s’était perdu en transit, et est arrivé juste avant que je parte pour Paris.

If I told you the whole history behind this leather jacket you would probable doze -off half way through. Suffice to say, it was a birthday present back in April, but I finally have my size seven months later. And while my wardrobe still feels miles from complete, this one item has certainly made it’s presence felt. The detailing is the first aspect which drew me to this particular jacket. The diagonally placed zippers, the quilted shoulders, the adjustable side tabs and the unassuming collar, made it a must-have. The second aspect was the price, which was a big draw card for this to be added to my birthday list.

These pictures were taken at the weekend, and if I look tired, it’s not without reason. The last few months have zapped me of all energy.  But now that I am safely tucked up in the French Alps, roaring fireplace, snow-covered mountains and everlasting mugs of hot-chocolate, I can finally say that I am feeling more human each day. I’m excited about Christmas, yet we will traditionally celebrate it late when the whole family is together. In the meantime, relaxation and snowboarding are on the menu, so what more could I ask?

The end of the year is fast approaching, and I feel like I have been in hiding for the last few months. Work has been intense, and sleep has been minimal. I’ve definitely not had that perfect balance of Work. Rest. Play. Now I am counting down the days until I head away for the holidays. Remember, I will reveal all about this latest project in the New Year.

I was recently contacted by Mon Collier Prenom, who offered to send me a personalised necklace. I jumped at the chance. Since watching “Sex and the City, I have wanted a “Carrie” Necklace of my own, I was just never quite sure where to get one from. Here was my answer. My necklace arrived promptly, and was presented nicely in a little box. I had chosen silver, decided on the length of the chain and opted for my own name. The chain so light, and easy to wear. And I’m sincerely impressed with the quality.

This week promises to be fairly busy, I have Christmas shopping, course work to catch-up on, and friends to see before I leave. I hope you all are having a great start to the week xxx

La fin de l’année approche, et j’ai le sentiment de m’être caché ces derniers mois. En fait je travaillais intensivement et je n’ai pas beaucoup dormi. Il est vrai que je n’ai pas eu un équilibre parfait entre le travail, et ma vie personnelle. Maintenant, je compte les jours jusqu’à mon départ en vacance. Rapellez-vous que je vous révélerais tout sûr mon dernier projet en début d’année.

J’ai été récemment contacté par Mon Collier Prénom, qui m’a offert un collier personnalisé. J’ai sauté sur l’opportunité. J’avais envie d’un collier “Carrie” à moi depuis que je regarde “Sex and the City”, mais je n’étais pas sûr où le trouver. Là était donc la réponse. Mon collier est arrivé rapidement, et était joliment présenté dans sa petite boite. J’ai choisi un collier en argent, j’ai choisi la longueur de la chaîne, ainsi que l’inscription (mon prénom). La chaîne est très légère et facile à porter. Je suis sincèrement convaincue par sa qualité.

Cette semaine va être assez remplie, j’ai mes course de Noël à faire, mes études qui ne sont pas au jour, et j’ai besoin de voir mes amies avant que je parte. J’espère que vous avez eu un bon début de semaine xxx
